SUMMARY
Within this master thesis, it is aimed that to increase piston and engine performance by using ceramic coated pistons instead of using pistons which manufactured from aluminum compound and having eloksal coated burning chamber. Flame punching and thermal shock tests were performed to the pistons and some specimens that are 1,5 mm thickness and prepared according to ASTM standards, both have the same material characteristics. The tests results were compared. Finally it is found that the ceramic coating, which are performed by a proper method and having compatible expansion coefficient of the aluminum compound pistons, increases performance of pistons and engines.
